Donald Trump said he will not appear in court on Monday to testify in the civil fraud trial brought by the New York attorney-general.
“I have already testified to everything & have nothing more to say . . . I will not be testifying on Monday,” the former president on wrote on Sunday on social media in all capital letters.
The judge has concluded that Trump, who has already testified in the trial, committed fraud by inflating his net worth to secure bank loans and insurance policies for the Trump Organization on favourable terms.
The court must now decide whether the ex-president should pay penalties upwards of $250mn and be denied the opportunity to operate a business in New York.
On Sunday, he denied wrongdoing and said that prosecutors had built a “fake case” against him.
