Crowe LLP, a Top 25 Firm based in Chicago, is merging in KMJ Corbin & Co. a Southern California firm that offers accounting, auditing, tax and consulting services, in the third M&A deal it has announced this month.

The deal is expected to close in mid-May. Financial terms were not disclosed. Crowe ranked No. 12 on Accounting Today‘s 2024 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $1.375 billion in annual revenue. The firm has over 500 partners and around 6,300 employees.

“KMJ is a well-established firm with a great track record in delivering exceptional client service with experienced and knowledgeable staff,” said Wendy Cama, Crowe audit and assurance managing partner, in a statement Thursday. “At Crowe, we are highly motivated to grow, especially in key markets such as California, but our decision to welcome the KMJ team to the Crowe family was grounded in a sense of shared values and culture.”

The deal will enhance Crowe’s audit and tax staff in Southern California. KMJ has two offices in Irvine in Orange County and Westlake Village in Los Angeles.

“The KMJ team, like Crowe, are problem solvers first and foremost. While this transaction will certainly be impactful for both of our teams, our shared clients will also benefit from our collective expanded skill sets,” said Crowe tax managing partner Nicole Bencik in a statement.

KMJ sees advantages in the combination. “Joining Crowe and its comprehensive, multidisciplinary business provides an exciting opportunity to serve clients in new and different ways while also creating additional professional opportunities for KMJ employees,” said KMJ managing partner Mike Faddoul in a statement. “We look forward to being a part of a recognized market leading firm with an impeccable reputation built on quality, culture and values.”

Last week, Crowe announced it’s adding the team from the economic research and consulting firm ITR Economics in Manchester, New Hampshire, and Belt Harris Pechacek, a Houston-based firm that provides audit and support services to local Texas governments. In 2021, Crowe added Briggs & Veselka, a Top 100 Firm based in Houston, and Upaya – The Solution Inc., a technology firm in Palo Alto, California.
