As a result, it makes strategic sense for HR leaders to bolster a sense of belonging among the workforce, says Adam Smiley Poswolsky, a noted belonging expert and author. However, Poswolsky, who recently spoke about building belonging in a keynote at the Elevate People, Ignite Change (EPIC) Conference, says HR can make common missteps on this journey. For instance, HR leaders assuming that a purpose statement alone will suffice or solely shouldering responsibility can damage efforts to drive inclusive connectedness.
