Docyt unveils AI bookkeeper named GARY
ShareShareShareShareShare

Bookkeeping solutions provider Docyt announced the release of its new Generative Accounting Retrieval sYstem, also known as GARY, an AI-powered bookkeeping system that automates manual processes to help professionals complete their month-end close in about 45 minutes.

GARY is built on not one but several AI models put together, combining precision and predictive models with generative AI to streamline back-office processes for small and midsize businesses. In contrast to booking transactions and then only reconciling them when it’s time to close, Docyt’s GARY performs continuous reconciliation, as well as real-time tracking of key performance indicators. This means that, when the time comes to perform the month end close, much of the work has already been done through automating every aspect of the monthly accounting workflow.

“Through GARY, businesses can now get real-time financials through continuous reconciliation,” said Sid Saxena, co-founder and CEO of Docyt. “KPI tracking is also performed daily in real-time. This cuts the month-end close down to 45 minutes whereas it can take up to 2 weeks for a typical business.”

Sugam Pandey, co-founder and chief technology officer, said performing the month end close is “now as simple as checking a box.” GARY tells the user when it is time to close the month, proactively resolves errors itself, “does sanity checks,” and can even request necessary documents.

GARY can also be put on what Docyt called auto-pilot, which lets it handle daily tasks like reviewing bills and receipts, reconciling revenue deposits and even communicating with clients (sometimes proactively). The auto-pilot can also spot unusual activities in the books and send alerts, flag unclear transactions that need further attention, and proactively contact clients to resolve open items. Users can set the auto-pilot to only handle tasks within a specified confidence threshold, and switch to manual if it falls below that. It also integrates with QuickBooks.

Docyt’s new GARY AI bookkeeper is currently available as a closed beta to Docyt customers. Subsequent updates will happen throughout the second half of 2024 to phase-in additional capabilities ahead of public beta. For more information, visit www.docyt.com/GARY.
