Doeren Mayhew acquired Houston-based Reimer McGuiness Hess CPAs & Advisors, effective July 1, 2025.

Doeren Mayhew is a Top 50 firm based in Troy, Michigan, with $235 million in revenue. The deal grows the firm’s presence in the Houston market. It adds RMH’s 38 employees to Doeren Mayhew’s 128 partners and 750 employees. RMH’s former cofounding partner Tom McGuinness will join the firm as a senior advisor. The remaining former partners — Randy Reimer, Max Dunlap, Mike Huett, Amy Estes and Shanna Rougeau — will join the firm’s leadership group as principals

Doeren Mayhew received a private equity investment from Boston-based Audax Private Equity in August 2024. The firm operates under an alternative practice structure, separating its attest and non-attest businesses.

“We’re extremely excited to expand our team with this acquisition,” Chris Masters, Houston managing principal at Doeren Mayhew, said in a statement. “Like Doeren Mayhew, RMH is known for delivering quality services with a tailored approach, and their complementary services will make for a seamless transition. We’re also looking forward to growing our Houston team with a group of very talented accounting professionals and industry leaders.”

RMH reports revenue of $9 million, offering tax, assurance and outsourced accounting services to small to midsized businesses in healthcare, manufacturing, real estate and nonprofit sectors in the Houston market.

“Doeren Mayhew has a strong reputation in the Houston marketplace, and although they are a large firm, we see the dynamic culture and entrepreneurial approach they bring to servicing clients and retaining their team members. With so much change happening in the accounting industry, we are looking forward to joining a firm that aligns with our firm values and brings additional resources to not only help our clients grow, but also our team,” RHM’s Reimer said in a statement.

This is the latest acquisition by Doeren Mayhew as part of its strategy to expand within its current regions and enter new markets. Most recently the firm acquired three firms in June, including Frierson, Solá, Simonton & Kutac in Houston, and Benoit & Associates and Draper Blalik & Company in Michigan. In March, the firm also acquired Thurman Campbell Group, expanding into the Tennessee market.
