Paycom and ADP lead compensation as Workday, Salesforce exit
ShareShareShareShareShare

Paycom and ADP, both HR Executive HR Top Products of the Year winners, lead HR technology companies on Comparably’s latest annual awards. Meanwhile, enterprise software leaders Salesforce and Workday notably dropped off the list.

Comparably (a ZoomInfo company) released its 2025 Best Companies for Compensation awards this week, recognizing 150 large companies with more than 500 employees based on anonymous employee feedback about their total compensation packages.

The rankings were determined using 15 million employee ratings collected from November 10, 2024, through November 10, 2025, across 70,000 U.S. companies. Employees rated their employers on salary fairness, benefits satisfaction, raise frequency, annual bonuses and stock or equity compensation.

HR tech leaders

Among HR technology vendors, Paycom ranked #5 overall, with employees praising the company’s commission structure, time off policies and healthcare benefits. Out of 2824 Paycom employee reviews, 95% were positive.

One employee wrote, “Having a stake in the company’s success not only motivates me to contribute to Paycom’s growth and profitability but also gives me a sense of ownership and accountability. I’m invested in the company’s future, and enjoy seeing the impact of my hard work and dedication reflected in stock performance.”

ADP followed at #9, marking a strong showing for the payroll and HR software giants. Out of 13,357 ADP employee reviews, 91% were positive. ”I love the stock options, health benefits and our amazing One ADP building with so many great things to stay engaged, take breaks and work out,” wrote one employee.

Other HR tech companies making the list include:

  • PlanSource (#34): benefits administration and HR software
  • symplr (#60): healthcare workforce management and compliance
  • First Advantage (#96): background screening and verification services

Notable enterprise tech rankings

NVIDIA claimed the #2 spot overall, reflecting strong employee satisfaction with compensation at the AI chipmaker. Google ranked #3, while Microsoft came in at #6, showing the continuing strength of major tech platforms in attracting and retaining talent through competitive compensation packages.

Work management platform Smartsheet ranked #54, and low-code automation provider Appian placed at #31, demonstrating that enterprise software companies beyond the tech giants are also maintaining competitive compensation.

Significant absences

The 2025 list notably excluded two major players that ranked in the top 10 in 2024. Salesforce, which placed #5 in 2024, and Workday, which ranked #6 last year, both dropped off the 2025 compensation rankings entirely.

Both companies offer significant HR technology capabilities. Salesforce, through its enterprise platform, and Workday, as a dedicated HR and finance cloud platform.

Methodology

To qualify for the rankings, large companies needed at least 75 employee participants providing anonymous feedback on Comparably.com. The platform asked employees questions, including:

  • Do you believe you’re paid fairly?
  • Are you satisfied with your benefits?
  • How often do you get a raise?
  • Does your company give annual bonuses?
  • If applicable, are you satisfied with your stock or equity?

Companies with more employee participation received additional weight in the rankings for statistical significance.
