Schneider Downs announced it will transition to a single CEO, effective July 1, 2026.

The Top 75 Firm named Adam Goode, its practice unit leader of consulting, as the next chief executive. Goode will succeed co-CEOs Steven Thompson and Chris McElroy, whose terms end June 30. The leadership change is part of a scheduled succession process and was unanimously approved by the firm’s shareholders.
The transition moves the firm from a co-CEO model, adopted in 2014, to a single CEO structure. The shift was recommended by Thompson and McElroy in conjunction with the firm’s board of directors. Thompson and McElroy have served as co-CEOs since 2020. Both will remain involved with the firm, providing counsel to the new leadership and focusing on creating value for the firm and its clients.
Goode joined the firm in 2007. He helped launch the firm’s accounting advisory and managed accounting services practices, and lead the consulting division. He currently serves on the firm’s operating committee.
