As part of the transaction, CMJ adds one office to UHY, its founders Paul Curtis and William Jeffreys will join UHY as partners, and the CMJ staff will join the UHY team.

UHY, based in Farmington Hills, Michigan, ranked No. 26 on Accounting Today‘s 2025 Top 100 Firms list. It reported $385 million in revenue, with 190 partners and over 1,700 total employees across 35 offices.

“As we expand our footprint across the country, including recent growth in South Carolina and Ohio, we remain equally committed to investing in the markets where we have deep roots,” UHY CEO Steven McCarty said in a statement Tuesday. “This balanced approach allows us to further strengthen our presence in New York’s Capital Region, building on an already strong foundation and delivering even greater value to clients. By combining CMJ’s trusted local expertise with UHY’s national platform, specialized capabilities, and advanced technology, we are unlocking new opportunities for growth while continuing to provide exceptional client outcomes.”

UHY received a private equity investment from Summit Partners in December 2024, spurring a wave of M&A activity. In 2025, it expanded in the St. Louis area, adding Sabino & Co. and Botz Deal & Co. That year it also acquired Tama, Budaj & Raab in Michigan. Prior to its PE investment, it added Paresky Flitt & Co. in Massachusetts; Baird, Cotter & Bishop PC in Michigan; Ross, Langan & McKendree in Virginia; Jansen Valk Thompson Reahm in Michigan; LWBJ in Iowa; and TGM Group LLC and Stoy Malone, both in Maryland.

“Joining UHY increases the resources available to our clients and enhances our ability to deliver impactful, personalized guidance,” CMJ founders Curtis and Jeffreys said in a joint statement. “UHY’s client-first approach and commitment to excellence closely align with our values at CMJ. Together, we are well positioned to broaden our services, grow across upstate New York, and help clients navigate their most pressing challenges.”
