ALW, founded in 1992 and based in Bettendorf, Iowa, expands UHY’s existing footprint in the state in Des Moines and Ames. UHY ranked No. 26 on Accounting Today‘s 2026 Top 100 Firms list, with $471 million in revenue and roughly 200 partners and over 2,000 staff across 40 offices.

“Iowa has a rich history in the manufacturing and agriculture space, two industries where UHY has deep expertise, and the region — led by rapid growth in cities like Bettendorf — is diversifying quickly, and that’s creating a growing demand for trusted, full-service accounting support,” said UHY chairman and CEO Steve McCarty in a statement. “The region’s rapid growth makes it an ideal market for UHY to expand our footprint, strengthen client relationships and deliver even greater value to businesses in the region.”

ALW shareholders and founders Barry Anderson, Donald Lower, Todd Whitlow and shareholder Matthew Brumfield will join UHY along with their team.

“Joining UHY provides our clients with greater access to national resources and specialized expertise, while creating exciting new opportunities for our team,” Lower said in a statement. “This combination allows us to expand our services, enhance our capabilities and continue delivering the personalized guidance our clients value. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Brumfield added, “Just as importantly, this collaboration brings together teams who deeply understand the Iowa market and its impact on the national economy.”

UHY received a private equity investment from Summit Partners in December 2024, fueling a wave of dealmaking. Earlier this year, it added Larson Tax Partners in St. Louis, and RBT and CMJ, both in New York. In 2025, it added Sabino & Co. and Botz Deal & Co., both in the St. Louis area, and Tama, Budaj & Raab in Michigan.

Prior to its PE investment, it acquired Paresky Flitt & Co. in Massachusetts; Baird, Cotter & Bishop PC in Michigan; Ross, Langan & McKendree in Virginia; Jansen Valk Thompson Reahm in Michigan; LWBJ in Iowa; and TGM Group LLC and Stoy Malone, both in Maryland.
