BerryDunn, a Top 50 Firm based in Portland, Maine, has added Burzenski & Co., a firm in East Haven, Connecticut, effective Dec. 1, 2024.
Burzenski specializes in working with veterinary practices and the construction industry. The merger will allow BerryDunn to expand into the veterinary practice market and bolster its existing construction practice. The deal also positions BerryDunn’s outsourced accounting practice group to offer more services to clients, including reporting, benchmarking and business consulting.
“The merger with Burzenski aligns with our commitment to strategic growth and a people-first philosophy,” said Renee Bishop, BerryDunn’s COO of assurance, tax and advisory services, in a statement earlier this month. “Their niche focus complements our service delivery model, and we are confident this merger will allow us to grow together to provide even more innovative solutions for our clients. Our investment in people, technology and learning was important to the leaders of Burzenski, ensuring that their team has ongoing opportunities for growth and development. We’re confident our clients will benefit from the combined expertise and unique strengths of both organizations.”
Burzenski sees advantages from the merger as well. “Our team will benefit from the expanded resources and leadership of BerryDunn, enhancing our ability to drive exceptional client service,” stated Burzenski managing partner Bill Kalinowski, a 30-year veteran of the firm. “We are thrilled about this partnership, as it aligns with our shared dedication to client success and enhances our ability to focus on client outcomes. It is exciting to find a firm that is equally committed to client success and to bringing a fresh perspective to each engagement.”
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. BerryDunn ranked No. 43 on Accounting Today‘s list of the Top 100 Firms, with $167.39 million in annual revenue, over 50 partners and more than 800 employees. The deal will strengthen the outsourced accounting practice group at BerryDunn.
“Over the past three years, we’ve seen our outsourced accounting services grow more than 175%,” said Kathy Parker, principal and practice group leader of the outsourced accounting practice group at BerryDunn, in a statement. “The merger with Burzenski is a natural next step in expanding our team of talented accounting professionals and providing high-touch, high-tech back-office services to companies of all sizes.”
