Canopy integration lets ChatGPT write your emails for you
ShareShareShareShareShare

Ever get stuck on exactly how to phrase an email? Canopy, a provider of accounting practice management software, announced that with its new integration with ChatGPT, people won’t have that problem quite as much, as the AI has been trained to compose them for you.

Rather than writing the email themselves, those using the ChatGPT function in Canopy can now craft an email simply by adding keywords and adjusting the level of formality of the message with one click. The technology also allows for rephrasing messages, or quickly correcting spelling and grammar.

To use this feature, someone working through Canopy to compose an email will click an icon in the text toolbar to activate the AI assistant; the user enters the subject, the recipient(s), the sender(s), and some key words and points for the kind of email they want to compose (e.g., “work out of scope,” “more time required” and “higher price”). The AI does the rest. Once the email is composed, the user can then highlight specific passages and make the program rephrase them, make them more formal, make them more friendly, or simply correct any grammar and spelling mistakes. The rephrasing options are also available for emails that humans typed for themselves if they require assistance modulating their tone.

“AI is shaping our future and it will continue to transform the accounting profession,” said Canopy CEO Davis Bell. “The ability of AI to identify needs and simplify tasks is amazing. Adding AI inside of Canopy to increase email efficiency is a simple step with a lot of potential for making accounting firms more productive.”

Bell said this is only the start of Canopy’s AI ambitions. The company is actively exploring how to integrate AI into other functions as well.

The new function will be released in beta mode with select customers on April 26 with the expectation of rolling it out to Canopy’s full customer base in May.
