PKF O’Connor Davies, a Top 25 Firm based in New York, has added Robert Philipson & Co., a firm in Silver Spring, Maryland, effective Jan. 1.

Robert Philipson’s origins go back to 1925 and the firm specializes in serving private clients through sophisticated tax services. The deal will deepen PKFOD’s private client services offering.

As part of the deal, managing partner Richard Philipson, partner Samuel Philipson, partner Diane Porter and the rest of their employees will join PKDOD but remain in their current Silver Spring offices.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. PKFOD ranked No. 25 on Accounting Today‘s 2023 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $337 million in annual revenue, over 200 partners, and more than 1,500 employees.

“Robert Philipson & Company, like PKF O’Connor Davies, is a well-established firm whose longevity has solidified its reputation for superior expertise and unparalleled client service,” said PKFOD executive chairman Kevin Keane in a statement Wednesday. “With the addition of Richard and his team, our clients and our organization now benefit from this nearly 100-year history of excellence. Their legacy, offerings and approach make them an exceptional fit, and I look forward to the many ways they will strengthen our work, especially with private clients.”

Robert Philipson & Co. offers tax planning and preparation, IRS representation, international taxation, estate and trust taxation services, retirement and succession planning, and support in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, marital planning and litigation.

“For nearly a century, our firm has never wavered from its mission to provide clients with the services and support they need to achieve their tax and accounting goals,” Philipson said in a statement. “As our firm looks to the future, we see no greater partner than PKF O’Connor Davies, whose legacy has positioned the organization as a globally recognized leader in the accounting industry.”

Last January, PKF O’Connor Davies merged in Archambault & Associates, a firm in Wakefield, Massachusetts, that specializes in trust and estate matters and private client group services. In 2022, PKFOD added Judelson, Giordano and Siegel, a firm in Middletown and Poughkeepsie, New York, and Simon, Tapper, Edelman & Wilner, a firm in Hackensack, New Jersey. In 2021, it acquired another New Jersey firm, LB Goodman & Co., in Fair Lawn, and added DGC LLP (formerly DiCicco, Gulman & Co.), in Boston.
