How CHROs can drive impact with AI training and people analytics
ShareShareShareShareShare

My colleague Dawn Kawamoto recently wrote a story about how HR leaders can collaborate with marketing teams. This story reminded me of something that Paul Rubenstein, chief people officer at Visier, said at Gartner’s ReImagine HR conference late last year: The HR industry is “on the precipice of capitalizing on one of the deepest digital footprints ever.”

He was talking about how CHROs can drive business impact by using people analytics, an area of human resources uniquely positioned to take advantage of technology.

“I envy the marketing tech stack,” said Rubenstein. In marketing, he said, consumers willingly donate their digital footprint, allowing businesses to “diagnose the propensity to buy on an individual level.”

He said HR leaders should learn from marketers, who use data to test for the direct connection between customer buying decisions and financial outcomes. Similarly, HR should see “people decisions as business decisions and people data as business data,” according to the people leader.

Read Kawamoto’s article and check out these other connections between marketing and HR, and do let me know if you’ve had an ah-ha moment about the synergy of these departments.

Here are the updates…

HR tech in action

This week, Google announced the AI Opportunity Initiative for Europe. This effort involves AI training and skills for vulnerable communities, support for start-ups across EMEA, plus free foundational AI courses in 18 languages, which are available to everyone.

BambooHR released its Employee Satisfaction tool, which offers AI analysis of open-response employee feedback in a single report. The feature is available to all BambooHR customers with the Pro Plan subscription.

Talent intelligence platform Claro Analytics launched its Labor Market Reports solution. The AI-powered tool analyzes U.S. talent research based on multiple metrics. A release notes that reports that previously took days or weeks to produce are now available in minutes.

HiBob has acquired U.K. payroll provider Pento. According to Stacey Harris of Sapient Insights Group, HiBob raised $150 million in October at a $2.7 billion valuation. Hear more about payroll from Harris in her most recent column for HRE.

Workforce management platform Rippling announced the appointment of Eisar Lipkovitz as its chief product officer. Eisar spent 15 years at Google in engineering leadership roles and began his career with the Israeli Air Force after graduating from Tel Aviv University.

More from HRE

Are you looking to bring AI talent to your HR team? You’re not alone. Many orgs are adding AI-fluent people analytics professionals to their company rosters. In fact, as of the end of January, workforce analytics firm One Model reported 500-plus open roles in the people analytics field.

Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced the U.S. AI Safety Institute Consortium, including 200-plus organizations supporting the development of trustworthy AI. Deloitte, Eightfold AI, EY, PwC, Workday and more are members.

Cognizant Chief People Officer Kathy Diaz spoke to HRE about how her company’s focus on AI training and upskilling informs its people strategy. The org is upskilling more than 200,000 employees through its Synapse initiative, which aims to train 1 million job seekers in AI.
