April releases AprilPro solution for complex tax situations
ShareShareShareShareShare

Tax solutions provider April announced the release of AprilPro, addressing complex tax situations ranging from K-1s and 1099s to AMT calculations and real estate investments.

The embedded finance solution will combine AI with actual tax professionals to guide users through the tax preparation process, with the human expert available for support and one-to-one conversations directly from the April app. This hybrid model builds on April’s DIY tax filing experience, which uses AI to reduce the number of questions a filer has to answer in order to accelerate filing.

The solution directly integrates with partner apps to pull in data without manual data entry from taxpayers. It works on both mobile and desktop, enabling users to upload all the necessary tax forms and complete personalized tasks from a mobile device. It also gives wealth management and SMB platforms the opportunity to incorporate tax data into their products and services. AprilPro enables wealth-management focused partners to offer tax filing services.

“At April, we’re focused on creating a seamless bridge between tax filing and financial services,” said April co-founder and CEO Ben Borodach. “AprilPro takes our platform to the next level by accommodating more complex tax needs within a familiar, trusted environment. Our goal is to make tax filing simple, accurate, and accessible—especially for clients with intricate financial situations.”

Financial service partners embedding AprilPro will be able to support clients who own corporations, are partners in REITs, and may be subject to alternate minimum tax, among other situations. Supported forms include K-1, 1099-B, 1099-DA and Schedule E.

A spokesperson said April is committed to working with partners to provide market competitive pricing, depending on the tax complexity of the partner’s user base. Like other April products, there will be no upsells or hidden fees along the way. The AprilPro solution is currently available to partners.
