The deal is the firm’s seventh acquisition since taking an investment from Centerbridge Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners in 2024. Crowl Cameron adds 12 employees to the team, and expands CRI’s presence to 20 offices across 18 cities in Texas.

Crowl Cameron serves the Montgomery County and Greater Houston business communities. It specializes in property and sales tax advisory, along with accounting, tax, and business advisory services for privately held businesses, family offices and high-net-worth individuals.

“The Greater Houston region and Montgomery County represent strategic growth markets with diverse business communities and strong economies,” CRI chairman Bill Carr said in a statement yesterday. “Crowl Cameron’s 45-plus-year legacy and specialized expertise align with our values. This partnership strengthens our ability to serve clients throughout one of Texas’s fastest growing regions.”

CRI, based in Enterprise, Alabama, ranked No. 23 on Accounting Today‘s 2026 Top 100 Firms list. It reported $601 million in revenue, with 483 partners and over 2,700 employees across 41 offices.

CRI recently acquired CFO Hub in March, expanding its reach into California and strengthening its presence in New York, Austin and Washington, D.C. In 2025, it added Williams Steinert Mask, entering the San Antonio market, as well as Regional Leader CapinCrouse in Indianapolis.

“After four decades of serving the Montgomery County community, joining CRI was the right strategic decision for our clients, team, and future,” Michael Cameron, managing partner of Crowl Cameron, said in a statement. “We chose to partner with CRI because they share our commitment to personalized service and local relationships. This merger allows us to offer more capabilities while maintaining the hands-on approach our clients expect from us.”

The Crowl Cameron team will continue working from their current Conroe location under the CRI brand.
