Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. TBK earned $13 million in revenue, while Doeren Mayhew, which ranked No. 47 on Accounting Today‘s 2025 list of the Top 100 Firms, earned $245 million in annual revenue this year. Doeren Mayhew has 180 partners, 850 staff members and 20 offices, while TBK has one office. The deal took effect Nov. 17, 2025, adding TBK’s nearly 35 employees, including four in leadership roles, to Doeren Mayhew.

“We entered 2025 with a clear focus on growth that aligns with our values and vision for the future of Doeren Mayhew,” said Chris Masters, Houston managing principal at Doeren Mayhew Advisors, LLC, in a statement. “TBK not only strengthens our footprint in the Houston market but combines our commitment to exceptional client service and a people-first culture. Their reputation for delivering tailored client solutions and fostering a collaborative environment mirrors our own, and I look forward to seeing what we will accomplish together.”

TBK dates back to 2014 and specializes in providing tax services to high-net worth individuals and privately held companies mainly in the health care, real estate, oil and gas, professional services and construction industries. All former TBK partners will join Doeren Mayhew’s leadership group as tax principals, including John Blackmon, Kristi Gibb, Nick Kabani and Colin Taylor. Chuck Fiorello, who was previously a partner at TBK, will join the firm in a director role.

“We are incredibly proud of the firm we’ve built over the past decade,” said a joint statement from TBK’s leadership group. “Reflecting on our growth, our leadership team took a thoughtful look at the best path forward to continue meeting the evolving needs of our clients while creating even greater opportunities for our employees. Doeren Mayhew gives us access to a wealth of resources that we know will help strengthen our client relationships and expand our ability to advise them in every aspect of their business.”

Doeren Mayhew took a private equity investment from Audax Private Equity in August 2024. Since then, it has been expanding in other cities besides Houston. In November, it acquired McMurray, Fox & Associates, which has offices in Hendersonville and Gallatin, Tennessee, and Novotny CPA Group in Norton Shores, Michigan. Earlier this year, it acquired Carson & McKinney CPAs and Thurman Campbell Group in Tennessee. Other recent deals include the acquisition of AGL CPA Group in Duluth, Georgia; Reimer McGuinness Hess CPAs and Advisors in Houston; Vanessa Solá’s practice of Frierson, Solá, Simonton & Kutac in Houston; Benoit & Associates CPAs in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Draper Bialik & Co.
