HR Tech Europe speaker and Human Resource Executive Top 100 HR Tech influencer Johannes Sundlo made an interesting point in his recent FullStack HR newsletter. He wrote that studies have found that most C-suite leaders expect generative AI to boost productivity, but less than half of organizations have implemented GenAI and trained their workforce on its use.
This gap highlights the disparity between expectations and the support needed for successful AI integration. “It’s as if people are expected to magically learn GenAI overnight,” wrote Sundlo, a people leader for Avalanche Studios Group in Stockholm. “I predict that as soon as a few C-level executives start voicing concerns about how ‘AI isn’t really making a dent,’ the sentiment around AI will begin to shift.”
But don’t be fooled by the trough of disillusionment warns Sundlo. He expects that organizations that toss out AI as a fad—and therefore neglect to upskill their workforce—risk becoming obsolete while those that adapt and invest in AI and related skills are more likely to succeed.
