IRS adds payments, Spanish to Business Tax Account

Business taxpayers can now use their Internal Revenue Service Business Tax Account to pay federal tax deposits and see and make a payment on balances due. 

Accounts are also now accessible in Spanish.

Launched last fall, BTA is a part of the IRS service improvement funded under the Inflation Reduction Act. When fully developed, the agency claims, BTA will allow many types of business taxpayers to check their tax history, make payments, view notices, authorize powers of attorney and conduct other business with the IRS. More translations are also planned.

Business taxpayers who can activate and use BTA include sole proprietors with an IRS-issued EIN and an individual partner or individual shareholder with both an Social Security number or ITIN and a K-1 on file (for partners, from 2012-2023; for shareholders, from 2006-2023).

Currently, an LLC that reports business income on a Schedule C can’t access BTA. Future access will be available for these businesses, as well as other entities including tax-exempts, government agencies, partnerships and C and S corporations.
