KPMG International elected Gary Wingrove as its next global chairman and CEO, effective Oct. 1, 2026.

Wingrove currently serves as the global chief operating officer and is a member of the global management team. Wingrove will serve a four-year term and will succeed Bill Thomas. The two will work together over the next six months to prepare for the transition.
“As client needs evolve, I am committed to ensuring we bring agility, deep expertise and AI‑enabled solutions to help them navigate complexity, manage risk and seize opportunities with confidence,” Wingrove said in a statement Wednesday. “I’m deeply grateful to Bill for his leadership, friendship and support and I look forward to building on the strong platform he has created.”
Prior to becoming global COO, Wingrove served as CEO of KPMG Australia from 2013 to 2021, where he nearly doubled the firm’s revenue and profitability.
During Thomas’s time as CEO, he has grown revenue by 55% since 2017 and invested $1.5 billion in the firm’s global sustainability strategy.
