Mauldin & Jenkins to acquire Schmoyer

Top 75 Firm Mauldin & Jenkins will acquire Schmoyer and Company in Columbia, South Carolina, effective Aug. 1, 2026.

Schmoyer specializes in healthcare accounting, small-business advisory, bookkeeping, strategic tax planning and preparation, and adds three partners to the team. The deal strengthens Mauldin & Jenkins’ presence in the region.

“[Schmoyer’s] reputation for integrity and service excellence aligns perfectly with our culture, and uniting our firms allows us to expand our resources and provide deeper commitment to the Columbia community and the state of South Carolina,” Hanson Borders, Mauldin & Jenkins managing partner, said in a statement.

Mauldin & Jenkins, based in Atlanta, ranked No. 67 on Accounting Today‘s 2026 Top 100 Firms list. It reported $121 million in revenue, with 77 partners and 510 employees across 14 offices. Last year, the firm acquired LaPorte in Louisiana, and Bradshaw, Gordon & Clinkscales in South Carolina. In 2024, it added CFO Navigator in the Atlanta area. In 2021, it acquired CDPA in Alabama. In 2020 and 2019, it added Plush Smith and  Jon Campbell & Associates, both in Florida, respectively.

“Joining Mauldin & Jenkins was a natural next step for our firm,” Terry Schmoyer, managing partner of Schmoyer, said in  a statement. “This alignment allows us to ensure our clients’ evolving needs are met while maintaining the personalized service they are accustomed to receiving.”
