“We are thrilled to join Platform at this critical moment in the industry,” Michael Smeriglio III, founder and CEO of Smeriglio Associates, said in a statement. “We can continue investing in our business, create new opportunities for our team, and offer our clients access to a network of best-in-class advisors across a variety of fields. It’s a win-win for all of us.”

Reyes Florez, Platform Accounting Group CEO

Platform has been growing rapidly in recent years, now with nearly 1,000 employees across 15 states. It most recently added Riibner and Associates in Maryland in January. In February 2024, it received an $85 million funding round led by Cynosure Group of Salt Lake City. Last month, it added two California firms: Wayne Long & Co. in Bakersfield and Seghettii Waxler in Santa Cruz, as well as Watters and Associates in Roseburg, Oregon. Last August, it added AWG Wine Advisors, formerly known as Allen Wine Group, based in Santa Rosa, California. Last July, the private equity-funded firm added Madison Street Advisors, formerly known as McCormick Tax Group, in Chicago. Last February, it added Keystone Advisor Group, formerly known as Heckman & Laudeman, in Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania. Last January, Platform added AKM Advisors in New York. In December 2024, it added Midwest Advisors, formerly known as Philip+Rae & Associates, in Naperville, Illinois, and Crossroads Advisors, formerly Peachin Schwartz + Weingardt, in Indianapolis. In 2023, the firm acquired and rebranded several firms in California, including Alpert & King and R.O.A.D in Thousand Oaks, JHS in Danville and Anaheim, and Hamilton & Co. in Modesto.
