REDW Advisors & CPAs acquired human resources consulting agency Soaring Bird Solutions, expanding the Top 100 Firm’s ability to serve tribal nations and tribal enterprises.

Soaring Bird Solutions, founded in 2015, supports organizations that serve tribal governments, tribal enterprises and tribal nonprofits across the U.S. It has offices in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Oklahoma City, as well as Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Salem, Oregon. The transaction expands REDW’s human resources strategy, leadership development and organizational consulting abilities.

Karla Bylund

Soaring Bird founder and CEO Karla Bylund, a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, will join REDW as a principal within the firm’s HR consulting practice.

“REDW has worked alongside sovereign tribal nations for more than four decades, supporting tribal governments and enterprises through advisory services,” REDW managing principal Steve Cogan said in a statement. “Karla brings more than 20 years of human resources leadership experience within tribal communities, along with deep expertise in organizational strategy, compensation design and workforce development. Her knowledge and perspective will enhance our ability to provide comprehensive advisory services to tribal clients across North America.”

REDW, based in Albuquerque, ranked No. 97 on Accounting Today‘s 2026 Top 100 Firms list. It reported $70.3 million in revenue with 48 partners and over 350 total employees across four offices. In September 2024, it acquired Hatcher Financial in Arizona.

“As REDW continues to grow, it is important that we do so on our own terms,” Cogan added. “Remaining an independent firm allows us to control our own destiny, invest strategically in our people and capabilities, and make decisions that are guided solely by what is best for our clients, team members, and communities. The alignment between REDW and Soaring Bird Solutions made this partnership a natural and strategic fit.”

The name Soaring Bird Solutions refers to Bylund’s Potawatomi name, Pneshi Bmashi, or “Bird Who Soars,” which was given to her during a traditional naming ceremony and represents perseverance, purpose and a commitment to meaningful work within tribal communities.

“REDW has built trusted relationships across Indian Country by approaching its work with humility, respect and a deep understanding of the communities it serves,” Bylund added. “By joining forces, we are able to bring together specialized HR expertise with REDW’s broader advisory platform, creating even greater opportunities to support tribal organizations across the country.”
