TSheets founder Matt Rissell found dead
ShareShareShareShareShare

Matt Rissell, the founder of time-tracking software company TSheets, was found dead in his Idaho home yesterday morning.

Coroners said at first it was a suicide by self-inflicted gunshot, according to local news reports, but further investigation has now led police to look into the matter as an attempted murder-suicide. Authorities are saying that 46-year-old Rissell shot a woman and then shot himself. The specific identity of the woman is not being disclosed, but police say that he knew her. She is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries. The case is still under investigation.

Rissell was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, and later moved to Idaho. He founded TSheets in 2006 along with Brandon Zehm. The platform was an early adopter of the mobile iPhone OS platform, and offered integration with QuickBooks. Intuit acquired the company in 2017, and Rissell remained it until 2019. Afterward, he invested in a number of different businesses.

Beyond his entrepreneurial activities, he was also a frequent contributor to business publications like Forbes.

Rissell leaves behind three school-aged children.
