Since 1941, the USO has proudly been the nation’s leading organization to serve the men and women in the U.S. military, and their families, throughout their time in uniform. For 85 years, the USO has provided steady support to service members and military families from the moment they join the U.S. military, through their assignments and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities.

The USO’s Accountants Salute the Troops Council brings leading public accounting firms together across the country to provide greater awareness of the noble mission of the USO and to collectively raise significant funding for the USO to carry out its mission. There are many ways for accounting firms to join and participate with the Council including but not limited to:
- Organize accounting firms’ fundraisers throughout the year including for the United States’ upcoming Semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026 marking America’s 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence;
- Fundraise within accounting firm’s existing stewardship programs;
- Fundraise within accounting firm’s planned giving programs;
- Fundraise within accounting firm’s charitable private foundations;
- Making individual donations including monthly giving;
- Gifts in honor or in memory of a military loved one; and/or
- Planned giving with an estate gift for accounting firm’s partners, employees and/or clients.
The Council will converge on Citi Field this Tuesday, June 9 from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. for its annual USO Care Package event to help boost the morale of deployed troops and service members by providing them with a physical “taste of home” with practical essentials that have been highly requested in durable, military-attachable bags. This event helps bridge the gap between the frontlines and Americans back home, assuring troops that their sacrifices are remembered.
