Donald Trump Jr. takes aim against Deloitte contracts
ShareShareShareShareShare

Donald Trump Jr. is threatening Deloitte’s lucrative contracts with the federal government because one of the Big Four firm’s executives reportedly leaked private conversations with former President Trump’s running mate Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, to the media.

The Deloitte Consulting principal “decided to interfere in the election & leak private convos with JD Vance to help Kamala Harris,” Trump Jr. wrote in a post on X. “Deloitte also gets $2B in govt contracts. Maybe it’s time for the GOP to end Deloitte’s taxpayer funded gravy train?”

Deloitte actually receives approximately $3 billion in contracts from the federal government, according to the Washington Post. The paper confirmed Monday that the Deloitte principal had been the confidential source of 2020 messages from Vance expressing skepticism about Trump.

The paper had previously quoted one of Vance’s messages in February 2020 saying, “Trump has just so thoroughly failed to deliver on his economic populism (excepting a disjointed China policy).” He also predicted Trump would probably lose the election that year.

Trump Jr. exposed the Deloitte principal’s name in a post on X on Sept. 27, leading to threats against him and the firm.

“This individual shared private personal messages on his own volition without the knowledge of Deloitte, which is a non-partisan firm,” Deloitte said in a statement. “Deloitte is deeply committed to supporting our government and commercial clients and we have a long track record of doing so across parties and administrations.”

The Post noted that Deloitte has donated around $1.2 million to Democrats and $1.3 million to Republicans in the current election cycle.
